To give each person equal hearing
Despite influence or fame;
To let a man be who he is
‘Though his ways are not the same.
To admit fault without excuse
And seek to make things right.
To hold judgment ‘til all is known
And facts have come to light.
To receive the truth and change course
When answers prove inconvenient.
To show those within your power
Forgiveness and mercy lenient.
To treat with love and compassion
Those in suffering and pain;
To walk along the weak and poor
When there’s nothing you will gain.
If you do these things and say “Yes”
When at first you hear God’s voice,
Then, a heart of flesh instead of stone
Is yours by grace and choice.
